Abstract :
Pomegranate as one of the important export fruits, that is susceptible to various postharvest quality problems including high weight loss, decay and physiological disorders such as chilling injury. In this study, investigated the effects of arginine treatments (0, 1 and 2mM) for conferring chilling tolerance in pomegranate fruit during storage at 4°C for 120 days. arginine treatment at 1 mM meaningfully conferred chilling tolerance in pomegranate fruit by lower husk browning and lower decay accumulation. Accordingly, exogenous arginine applying serves as a safe beneficial strategy for conferring chilling tolerance in pomegranate fruit during cold storage.
