Abstract Objective: Although data sharing includes various advantages, the researchers avoid sharing the data. The present study thus aims at investigating the barriers and challenges to data sharing. Methodology: Using quantitative approach, this study examines the literature review of data sharing in scientific databases. Findings: the major barriers and challenges to research data sharing are categorized into 5 following groups: First, individual barriers including time, cost, the devoted effort to sharing the data, experience, age, gender, and the degree of scientific efficiency. Second, motivational barriers including lack of required rewards and stimuli for data sharing and the absence of proper acknowledgment for those who reuse data. Third, organizational barriers involving lack of appropriate organizational support, lack of proper financial and human resources, and the strict policies of the organizations. Fourth, technical barriers including lack of proper repositories, disuse of suitable data and Metadata standards, as well as low data quality. Finally, legal and legitimate barriers including the loss of publishing chances, misinterpretation and misuse of shared data, data ownership and the right of using data. Conclusion: In order to promote and enhance the research data sharing, identifying the barriers and limitation in data sharing used as a framework for promoting and increasing in data sharing چکیده هدف: علیرغم مزایای متعدد اشتراک‌گذاری داده‌ها برای پژوهشگران، انها ازاشتراک‌گذاری داده‌ها خودداری می‌کنند. در مقاله حاضر به بررسی موانع و چالشهای اشتراک‌گذاری داده‌ها پرداخته می‌شود. روش‌شناسی: مطالعه حاضر به روش مروری، ادبیات حوزه اشتراک‌گذاری داده‌های پژوهشی را در پایگاه‌های معتبر علمی را مورد بررسی قرار داده است. یافته‌ها: مهمترین موانع و چالش‌های پش روی اشتراک‌گذاری داده‌های پژوهشی به 5 دسته کلی موانع فردی شامل زمان، هزینه و تلاش صرف شده جهت اشتراک‌گذاری داده‌ها، تحربه، سن، جنسیت و میزان بهره‌وری علمی، موانع انگیزشی شامل کمبود پاداش‌ها و مشوق‌های لازم جهت اشتراک‌گذاری، عدم تقدیر و تشکر مناسب توسط استفاده‌کنندگان مجدد از داده‌ها، موانع سازمانی شامل عدم حمایت سازمانی مناسب، کمبود منابع مالی و انسانی مناسب، وجود خط‌مشی‌ها و سیاست‌های سفت و سخت سازمانها، موانع فنی شامل عدم وجود واسپارگاه‌های مناسب، عدم استفاده از استانداردهای داده‌ای و ابرداده‌ای مناسب و کیفیت ضعیف داده‌ها و موانع حقوقی و قانونی شامل از دست رفتن فرصتهای نشر، سو تفسیر و سو استفاده از داده‌های اشتراکی، مالکیت و حق استفاده از داده‌ها تقسیم می‌شود. نتیجه‌گیری: شناسایی موانع و محدودیت‌های پیش روی اشتراک‌گذاری داده‌‌های پژوهشی می‌تواند به عنوان چارچوبی جهت ترویج و افزایش اشتراک‌گذاری داده‌ها مورد استفاده قرار بگیرد..
