Abstract :
Today according to power electronic developments, the researchers tended toward renewable energy sources. In this renewable energy sources systems power, electronic devices used to convert electrical energy as a required state. by increasing advantages of power electronic devices, the multilevel voltagesource inverter has remarkable growth. Actually, the multilevel inverters, provide the appropriate condition to using lower cost and smaller size power electronic devices. Despite all the advantages of multilevel inverters, one of the most important challenges in these technologies is an injection of high order harmonics into the renewable based microgrids which can be influenced on efficiency and performance of the inverters. in order to eliminate these unwanted harmonics, some modulation techniques have been used to solve these challenges. Bedside these modulation techniques, there are some metaheuristics algorithm, which can be applied to eliminate high order harmonics.in this regard this paper by using a cuckoo search algorithm to eliminate high order harmonics in a particular 15-level inverter and optimize total harmonic distortion (THD). the simulation model has been developed by using MATLAB/Simulink and the simulation results verify the proposed cuckoo optimization algorithm for a 15-level inverter.
