Abstract :
Minimizing the average distortion of a Gaussian source in a point-to-point block fading channel is persuaded throughout the current paper. Two major assumptions of not having the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) and complete uncertainty regarding the channel strength distribution at the transmitter, affect the transmission. In this regard, multilayer coding is employed as a response to the lack of CSI at the transmitter, while the optimal performance in the presence of uncertainty is guaranteed by optimally solving a minimax optimization problem. The problem is further analyzed through strong duality, where a simplified approach is provided. Numerical results demonstrate the advantage of multi-layer coding approach over traditional single-layer coding.
