Abstract :
The recent years, we have observed a growing demand for biometrics to authenticate users. Compared to other designs, such as using passwords and pins, biometric-based authentication systems face new and different challenges; however, most of them guarantee the users’ biometric privacy in backends, as these data must be provided for a lifetime of a person. However, most of them need a trusted server. Cryptographic approaches such as multi-party computation have improved the privacy of private data without trusting a server. A secure multi-party sum is one of the most important secure multi-party computation protocols to protect users’ privacy. This paper introduces a blockchain-based user re-enrollment for biometric-based authentication schemes using a secure multi-party sum protocol. Blockchain technology has dismissed the need for a trusted server. The proposed scheme uses Shamir’s secret sharing, ElGamal encryption, and Schnorr’s digital signature to compute the secret biometric shares. In our scheme, it is possible to securely re-enrollment users without their physical presence. In addition, comparative evaluations indicate the efficiency and security of the proposed scheme
