In this paper, an attack model is proposed to implement safe and efficient distributed certificate authority (CA) using secret sharing method in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). We assume that the attack process is based on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process. The proposed model is evaluated and an appropriate amount of threshold and updating period of sharing secret is suggested. In addition, threshold value effect on security of the network which uses the distributed CA is investigated. The results may be also useful in security improvement of networks that apply secret sharing scheme. Keywords: Ad Hoc Network, Nonhomogeneous Poiss
